In the Dark exists to expose the harsh realities of energy poverty in the West African nation of Senegal, revealing the human cost of limited access to reliable and affordable energy there, in Africa and elsewhere. Through compelling storytelling and on-the-ground insights, In the Dark brings critical attention to the new “Green Imperialism”, well-meaning but misguided Western climate policy that perpetuates poverty by strangling economic freedom in developing countries. And it demonstrates that hydrocarbon fuels, including Canadian ones, are an efficient and compassionate part of the solution to poverty, not a disastrous imposition on the poor.
